Improvement of the 5th Industrial Intersection – Sharjah (Emirates Road)

National Contracting delivered a comprehensive corridor-improvement scheme along Emirates Road and its surrounding network in Sharjah for the Ministry of Public Works. The works converted existing roundabout junctions into modern signalized intersections, introduced new signalized junctions, and upgraded key tie-in points between Sharjah and Dubai to enhance capacity and traffic flow. Completed over 13 months, the project strengthened a strategically important industrial corridor while maintaining safe and continuous movement throughout construction.
Scope of works
- Improvement of multiple locations along Emirates Road and the surrounding road network
- Upgrade of the existing roundabout junction (#1) on the 4th Industrial Street along Maliha Road to a four-leg signalized intersection, with a new three-leg signalized junction
- Conversion of the existing roundabout junction (#13) on the Dubai/Sharjah border to a three-leg signalized intersection
- Upgrade of junction (#14) on the Eastern Street parallel to Emirates Road to a four-leg signalized intersection at Maliha Road
- Improvement of the existing Emirates Road section near Sharjah Ring Road, forming the tie-in between Sharjah and Dubai
- Execution of trial trenches along the Emirates Road corridor and crossing roads at the Sharjah Ring Road, 5th Industrial, King Abdul Aziz, University City and Al Dhaid junctions
