National Contracting delivered the comprehensive upgrade of the strategic junction between the Umm Al Quwain Falaj Al Mualla Road (E55) and Etihad Road (E11), replacing the existing layout with a four-leg elliptical roundabout engineered to enhance traffic capacity and road safety. The scope encompassed full civil and roadway works alongside extensive coordination with utility authorities, including the protection and relocation of water, electrical, telecommunications, irrigation, military fibre-optic and gas networks. Completed within seven months for the Ministry of Public Works, the project reflects the firm's precision in executing complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure improvements.

Scope of works

  • Construction of a four-leg elliptical roundabout with lighting, traffic signs, road markings, safety barriers and associated road appurtenances
  • Relocation and construction of new service lines, with protection of existing utilities to specification and standards
  • FEWA water works: removal of existing pipes, valves and chambers, precast RC protection slabs, and supply and jointing of HDPE PN16 SDR11 pipeline with testing and commissioning
  • FEWA electrical works: removal of the existing substation, columns, feeder pillars and cables, and relocation of existing cables
  • Etisalat and Du telecommunications works: removal of redundant D54 ducts, manholes, chambers and joint boxes, with backfilling and reinstatement
  • Irrigation, military fibre-optic cable and gas pipeline works
